Celebrating a Native Wonder
Zaher played a leading role in researching and protecting iris Sofarana, an endangered taxa and iconic Lebanese endemic plant. Through fieldwork, public engagement, and in-situ conservation initiatives, we brought national attention to the need for urgent conservation.
Our work was internationally recognized when we received a Ford Foundation Biodiversity Award, a milestone that honors both scientific excellence and the cultural significance of native plants.
